BIOGRAPHY
Hannah Goldberg is a professional contemporary dance artist originally from London, Ontario, Canada. After studying many styles of dance growing up, Hannah continued her dance training through courses offered at the University of Western Ontario (2008-2012) – including modern dance, improvisation, and composition. From 2011 to 2015, she worked and trained with Dasein Dance Theatre (London, Canada) under the artistic direction of Lacey Smith. With Dasein, Hannah trained in classical and contemporary dance and was involved in the research and creation phase of a number of new works. She also had the opportunity to perform at numerous festivals and shows across southwestern Ontario – including Art Harvest (2012, 2013, 2014), Dance Ontario’s DanceWeekend (2013), the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival (2015), and the premiere of I.me.you.we.pictures of my heart (2015).
Wanting to acquire international dance experience, Hannah traveled to Bologna, Italy in 2015 to take part in a one-year intensive dance training program called Dance's StartUp through the Leggere Strutture Art Factory International. Through this program, she took part in daily classical and contemporary classes, and had the chance to work with many world renowned teachers and choreographers – including Brigel Gjoka (Forsythe Company), Erion Kruja (Hofesh Shechter), Eduaro Torroja (Ultima Vez), Blenard Azizaj (Akram Khan), and Mikel Aristegui (Sasha Waltz, DV8). In June 2016, Hannah was also selected out of numerous applicants to participate in a workshop with Isabelle Schad and Laurent Goldring as a part of the Biennale College-Danza Festival in Venice, Italy. For the rest of 2016, Hannah worked and trained with Compagnia Balafori (Milan, Italy) under the artistic direction of Alessandra Costa. With this company, Hannah was involved in the creation and production phases of their newest work Be Positive, which premiered on Oct. 10th, 2016 at the Teatro dell’Arte in Milan, Italy.
Most recently, Hannah participated in the Disha Dance International Dance Gathering, which took place in Cochin, India in January, 2017. There, she had the opportunity to train in contemporary dance and repertoire classes with Kristina and Sade Alleyne (Akram Khan Company) as well as Saju Hari (Akram Khan Company). Additionally, Hannah trained in the ancient Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu and immersed herself into Southern Indian culture. Finally, along with a large amount of professional dance training and performing experience, Hannah also has over seven years of dance teaching experience, including classes for children and adults in all dance styles at various studios across Southwestern Ontario (2008-2015). She recently founded the Elias Movement Project, and hopes to bring more professional-level classes, workshops and events to London and surrounding area.
